Ana Ferry, co-owner of the brand new Ana’s Corner Store in East Norriton, has a different take on the familiar. When it comes to serving the public, she and her brother, Richard Gaglianese, want to fill a void that the traditional convenience store probably can’t.

When Ferry’s brother approached her with the idea of purchasing the business, she thought it a good idea since she was unemployed at the time. Ever since, things have been coming together nicely, and during the weekend of Jan. 29 and 30, Ferry and her brother will be hosting the Grand Opening of the store from noon until 5 p.m. both days.

Joining them will be their father, Alfio Gaglianese, the famed (retired) owner of Alfio’s Italian Restaurant in Glenside and Philadelphia. He was also the maitre d’ of DaVinci’s in Philadelphia for 16 years.

If his name is familiar to you, his face will be even more so. He is not only a restaurateur but a celebrated master of the Caesar salad, winning several awards, including a “Best of Philly” and “Best of the ’Burbs” for his exquisite Caesar salad.

On tap for Ana’s Corner Store will be the traditional grocery store items along with specialty items. In addition to homemade soups, breads and breakfast sandwiches, they have planned a full kitchen and full-service grill for the near future.

“We plan to support local businesses,” said Ferry. They’ll be incorporating the goods from Corropolese Bakery, Merrymead Farms, Café Excellence coffee and Mr. Ron’s coleslaw among several others.
